Our approach
SagoSync synchronizes folders you choose on your Android device with the Google Drive account you connect. File bytes travel directly between your device and Google. SagoSync does not operate a file relay, and keeps no cloud copy of your files.
Storage access
SagoSync requests the “All files access” permission (MANAGE_EXTERNAL_STORAGE). A folder-synchronization app has to read and write arbitrary folders that you name — including app-created folders such as call-recording folders — and has to watch them for changes. The permission is used only for the folder pairs you configure in the app. It is never used to scan, index, or transmit anything outside those folders.
The app also uses a notification permission (to tell you when a backup fails), a foreground service (to watch folders for the Pro “instant backup” feature), and a boot-completed receiver (to re-arm the schedule after a restart).
Synchronization modes, including deletion
Each folder pair has a direction that you select: upload, download, two-way, or one of two “move” modes. The move modes delete the original after the copy is verified — “upload then delete” removes the file from your phone once the Drive copy is confirmed by checksum, and “download then delete” moves the Drive copy to your Google Drive trash once the phone copy is confirmed. Two-way sync never propagates deletions. No mode deletes anything unless you selected a move mode for that folder pair.
Data on your device
SagoSync stores, only on your device: the folder pairs you configure, your backup conditions, a sync index used to avoid re-uploading unchanged files, a record of recent file transfers, whether a Google Drive connection was completed, and whether Pro is unlocked. If you sign in to the SagoSync service, its session token and account identifier are stored with the Android Keystore. That session lasts up to one year, because the app has no token refresh and a shorter one would sign paying users out every month; signing out in the app, or deleting your account, ends it. The connection record and the sync index are encrypted with the Android Keystore.
The connection record, sync index, transfer history and Pro state are excluded from Android cloud backup and device transfer. Your folder pairs and backup conditions are included, so a new phone can restore your setup; you sign in to Google Drive again on the new device.
Data we do not collect
SagoSync does not collect, receive, store, sell, or inspect your file contents, file names, folder paths, Google Drive file lists, or Google Drive credentials on SagoSync servers. It does not operate a file relay or a cloud copy of your files, and it does not use behavioural advertising analytics.
SagoSync account data
To manage a paid entitlement, you may sign in with Google separately from connecting Google Drive. SagoSync stores the Google account's stable identifier, email address when Google provides it, email-verification status, account status, and account activity timestamps. This data identifies your SagoSync account and is not used to inspect or access your Google Drive.
Google Drive
When you connect Google Drive, Google processes that connection under Google’s own terms and privacy policy. To let you browse My Drive and choose any existing destination folder, SagoSync requests Google’s restricted drive permission. The app uses that permission only on your device to browse folders for your selection and to synchronize the folder you select; it does not send Drive files, names, paths, listings, or credentials to SagoSync servers. You can revoke this access at any time at myaccount.google.com/permissions.
SagoSync’s use and transfer of information received from Google APIs to any other app will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. Concretely: Google Drive data is used only to provide the folder synchronization you set up in the app; it is not transferred to anyone except as needed to provide that feature, and never for advertising, credit assessment, or lending; it is not sold; and no human reads it, because it never reaches our servers at all.
Purchases
SagoSync Pro is a one-time in-app purchase processed by Google Play. To protect paid access, the app sends a purchase token to SagoSync over HTTPS for one-time verification with Google Play. SagoSync stores the product ID, order ID when supplied by Google, purchase state, verification and grant timestamps, and a one-way hash of the purchase token. It does not retain the raw token. Google Play remains the record of the purchase.
Usage statistics
To see where setup gets stuck — the permission screen, the Drive connection, the first backup — the app reports which of those steps it has reached. It sends a random identifier generated on your device (not your Google account, not the advertising ID, and not derived from your hardware), the names of the steps reached, the language the app is running in, the app version, and the Android API level. Our server records the two-letter country code of the request; your IP address is not stored. No file names, folder paths, file contents, or Drive listings are involved. The app asks on first launch and sends nothing unless you agree. This is first-party only — the data goes to SagoSync and to no advertising network or third-party analytics service, and it is not used to profile you or to target advertising. You can change your answer at any time in the app under backup settings, which stops any further reporting. The random identifier is not linked to your name, email or Google account, but it is stable for as long as the app is installed, so it is pseudonymous rather than anonymous and we treat it as personal data. To have the records for your installation erased, write to sagosync@sagolink.com — the app can show you the identifier under backup settings so we can find them. Statistics are kept for 24 months and then deleted.
Deleting your data
Uninstalling SagoSync removes everything the app stored on your device. Files already copied to your Google Drive remain in your Drive and are managed by you. Revoking access in your Google account ends the app’s ability to reach Drive. To request deletion of the SagoSync service-account and entitlement records, follow the steps on delete your account; purchase records may be retained only where required for fraud prevention, accounting, or legal obligations.
Service availability
SagoSync transfers files directly between your device and Google Drive, so backups already configured keep running even if SagoSync's own account service is unavailable. The Google Drive features depend on Google's APIs, policies and periodic verification requirements; if Google changes or restricts them, parts of the service may become limited or unavailable. SagoSync Pro is a one-time purchase for the features as provided, not a subscription promising indefinite updates.
Children
SagoSync is a general-purpose utility and is not directed at children.
Who processes your data, and where
SagoLink Co., Ltd. (Republic of Korea) is the controller. The only processors involved are the ones needed to run the service:
- Vercel Inc. (United States) — hosts this website and the account/purchase API.
- Supabase — hosts the database holding the account, entitlement and purchase records. The SagoSync database is located in Singapore.
- Google LLC — Google sign-in, Google Drive, and Google Play billing. Your files move directly between your device and Google and are never seen by the parties above.
Your data is therefore processed outside your own country. For users in the EEA and the UK: Korea holds a European Commission adequacy decision, and transfers to the processors above are covered by the Standard Contractual Clauses in their data-processing terms.
Why we are allowed to process it, and for how long
| Data | Legal basis (GDPR Art. 6) | Kept for |
|---|---|---|
| Account record and Pro entitlement | Performance of a contract — 6(1)(b) | Until you delete the account |
| Purchase records | Legal obligation — 6(1)(c) | Five years, under Korea's Act on Consumer Protection in Electronic Commerce |
| Usage statistics | Consent — 6(1)(a), asked on first launch and withdrawable in the app | 24 months |
Your rights
You may ask us to give you a copy of your data, correct it, erase it, restrict or object to its processing, or transfer it to another provider. Where processing rests on consent you may withdraw that consent at any time, which does not affect what was done beforehand. Write to sagosync@sagolink.com; account deletion is also available in the app and at delete your account.
If you think we have handled your data wrongly you may complain to a supervisory authority — in the EEA or UK, the authority where you live or work; in Korea, the Personal Information Protection Commission (pipc.go.kr).
